Product information

Origin:

The Styrian pumpkin variety, also known as the "Styrian oil pumpkin" (Cucurbita pepo var. styriaca), is particularly well-suited for producing pumpkin seed oil. The seeds are large, green, and rich in oil. Approximately 2.5 kg of seeds are needed to produce one liter of pumpkin seed oil, which is what makes the oil so special. After harvesting, the seeds are dried, stored, and cold-pressed as needed, usually every two weeks, to ensure a consistently fresh oil supply.

Quality:

Our pumpkin seed oil is produced without industrial refining, other oils, preservatives, or chemical additives. The entire production chain – from sowing and harvesting to cleaning, drying, and pressing – is personally monitored. The ground seeds are lightly roasted before pressing, which gives the oil its intense nutty and herbaceous flavor.

Application:

Our pumpkin seed oil is ideal for dressings, marinades, or as a topping for dishes. The careful selection and processing make it a versatile companion in the kitchen.

Manufacturing and production processes:

After harvesting, the seeds of the Styrian oil pumpkin are carefully removed from the pulp, cleaned, and gently dried. They are then coarsely ground and roasted at a moderate temperature – a crucial step that develops the oil's characteristic nutty aroma. Finally, the oil is cold-pressed using a purely mechanical process, ensuring that its valuable nutrients are preserved as much as possible.

Panel test:

To guarantee sensory quality, the pumpkin seed oil is regularly tested. Properties such as color, aroma, and taste are assessed. Only oils with a clear, intense green color, a nutty, roasted aroma, and a harmonious flavor are considered first-class. This sensory control ensures that every batch meets the high quality standards.

Quality control:

In addition to sensory evaluation, a chemical analysis is performed by certified partner laboratories. This analysis checks, among other things, the acidity, peroxide value, and fat composition. After pressing, the oil is stored in a cool, dark, and airtight container to preserve its freshness, aroma, and nutrients for the long term.
